This is quite the honor!
I’m so proud to announce that I have earned an early endorsement from the Oregon League of Conservation Voters – an organization that has put Oregon at the forefront of the environmental movement.
Protecting our environment has always been a top priority for me. In the legislature, I fought to pass the historic clean fuels law so that every Oregonian can breathe clean air. This law makes Oregon a leader for the nation in reducing emissions and encouraging renewable energy technology. While this law is a great first step, there is much more work to be done to ensure that all Oregon families enjoy clean air, clean water, and the natural beauty of our state.
On the Multnomah County Commission, I’ll continue to focus on protecting our natural resources and environmental justice. East Portlanders need better transit service and more safe routes for walking and biking to their jobs, schools, and grocery stores. As we implement policies that improve our environment, I plan to ensure that communities of color and low-income folks are involved in the process. We put people at a disadvantage when communities don’t have seat at the table.
Environmental justice is critical to ensuring a brighter, healthier, and more sustainable future. As Multnomah County Commissioner, I’m going to take us there.
