Oregon’s female leadership

by Jessica Vega Pederson

During Women’s History Month we honor the women who have gone before us. Those who won the right to vote, fought for reproductive choice, and worked to chip away at the glass ceiling.

They paved the way for many of our leaders to continue to fight for the best future for our country.

In Oregon specifically, we have tremendous female leadership. Women like Governor Barbara Roberts – who served as Oregon’s first female Governor – our current leadership in the House of Representatives – Speaker Tina Kotek and House Majority Leader Jennifer Williamson – and our County Chair, Deborah Kafoury.

They have proven records of success – and it shows just how important female leadership is for our progressive values.

As I run for Multnomah County Commissioner, I’m proud to have the endorsements of these hard-working women and organizations such as the Planned Parenthood PAC and NARAL Pro-Choice Oregon PAC. As County Commissioner, I'll continue the work I started at the state level by fighting for increased access to women's health care and equality. You can count on it.

Meet Jessica

I am a mother, a business professional, a progressive Democrat, a proud resident of East Portland, and the first Latina elected to the Oregon House of Representatives.

I'm running for Multnomah County Commissioner because I believe everyone in our region deserves a fair shot. I want to make Multnomah County an even better place to live, work, and raise a family. I'm ready to get to work and I hope you'll join us!.
